Costel Pantilimon will spend the season in La Liga with Deportivo La Coruna.

Deportivo La Coruna have taken Romanian international goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon on a season-long loan from Watford, the Spanish club announced on Friday evening.

Tied to the Hornets until June 2019, the 6 foot and 8 inches-tall player will strengthen Deportivo’s backline.

A Deportivo statement said: “Costel Pantilimon became this evening a new Deportivo goalkeeper.

“The Romania international joins on loan from Watford until the end of the season.”

A Premier League and League Cup winner with Manchester City in the 2013-14 campaign, the 30-year-old was Heurelho Gomes’ understudy and made just seven appearances in all competitions since joining Watford in January 2016 from Sunderland for an undisclosed free.
