LIVE Transfer Talk: Manchester United finalising Sancho move

The coronavirus outbreak has made the summer transfer window uncertain, but here are the new rumours floating around Europe’s big leagues and beyond.

TOP STORY: Man United believe secret talks have secured Sancho

The past 24 hours have seen Borussia Dortmund claiming they’re hopeful of keeping Jadon Sancho at the club beyond the summer, but the Sun reports that Manchester United believe they’ve done enough to sign football’s hottest property.

The paper says that Sancho has agreed to move to Old Trafford, with even the small print of the deal finalised.

It is believed that United have been able to negotiate the deal through months of secret talks and that the signing on fee, salary and bonuses have all been agreed upon.

The only part of the deal yet to be finalised is the final transfer fee with Dortmund, and it is expected that a record price will be required to get the transfer over the line. Dortmund are determined to make more than the £89.3 million Man United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba in 2016.

Sancho left Manchester City to join Dortmund for around £8m in order to get more first-team football in 2017, but he has been considering a return home ever since a host of English clubs — United included — enquired about the possibility of signing him last summer. Now it would appear as those United’s persistence might have paid dividends.

22.52 BST: Claude Puel managed Hatem Ben Arfa at Nice, where the playmaker excelled in 2015-16, and Le10 Sport writes that the man now in charge of Saint-Etienne seeks to be reunited with the 33-year-old former Newcastle standout.

21.35 BST: Calciomercato writes that the price for Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is his €60m release clause, and interested parties are aware, but no club has come forward with a proposal yet as Liverpool have been credited with interest in the 27-year-old Croatia international.

20.18 BST: Having fought his way back into Barcelona’s first XI, Samuel Umtiti is unwilling to consider any offers to leave the Catalan club, according to Sport, with the 26-year-old France international’s position dimming the hopes of Manchester United, who’ve long showed the most interest in the centre-back.

19.01 BST: After losing out on a chunk of the fee paid by Tottenham for Giovani Lo Celso, Real Betis are facing a similar predicament with Nabil Fekir, with AS writing that the club could receive as little as 40% of any fee and the remainder going to Lyon and the player. As a result, the Spanish outfit will hold out for at least €50m as Arsenal and AC Milan hold interest in the 26-year-old France international.

18.14 BST: While Arsenal have been the club long linked with Atletico Madrid attacker Thomas Lemar, Mundo Deportivo reports that Roma have emerged as a challenger to land the 24-year-old France international, preferring a season-long loan arrangement with an option to buy.

17.27 BST: Inter are firm on their price for Lautaro Martinez: It’s his release clause, which is €111m, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, but the Nerazzurri are willing to accept a combination of a handful of players to make up that valuation: Arthur, Carles Alena, Junior Firpo and Nelson Semedo.

16.40 BST: Atletico Madrid might only recently have signed Joao Felix for €126m from Benfica, but they are looking to sell already, according to Le10 Sport.

Felix, 20, has netted six goals in 28 appearances but hasn’t seemed settled in Madrid and the report states that Man United are ready to offer big money to sign him.

The Portuguese forward will, of course, be compared to his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo forever. And even more so if he makes the move to Old Trafford.

15.48 BST: Barcelona want to sell Ousmane Dembele, but with the transfer market in a state of flux amid the coronavirus outbreak, they will consider a loan, says Sport.

Arsenal and Man United will jump at the chance to sign the France winger, though his history of injury issues will ensure they don’t make any rash decisions.

14.56 BST: It hasn’t really worked out for Mexico winger Chucky Lozano at Napoli, so where should he move?

13.47 BST: La Gazetta dello Sport claims that Juventus are looking to use Miralem Pjanic and Alex Sandro as makeweights towards a deal for striker Mauro Icardi.

The move hinges on PSG buying the 27-year-old from Inter Milan after his loan expires this summer for a €70m buyout clause, then Juve will negotiate with PSG to offer them players plus cash.

An odd way to go about it, but evidently Juve aren’t confident that Inter would allow them to buy the Argentine for a fair price.

13.05 BST: David Silva is in talks about a return to former club Valencia but a potential deal is being complicated by the coronavirus crisis, sources have told ESPN.

Silva has signalled his intention to leave Manchester City at the end of his contract, which is set to expire on June 30. Valencia are keen to re-sign the Spain midfielder 10 years after he left the club for the Etihad Stadium but negotiations are being hampered by the uncertainty surrounding the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for players out of contract this summer.

FIFA have suggested contracts due to end on June 30 should be extended until the current season can be completed but there is concern among Premier League bosses that the guidance is not legally enforceable.

12.35 BST: Neymar has a choice to make: Stay at PSG or force a move back to Barcelona?

11.42 BST: Orlando City forward Nani says he would like to end his career at former club Sporting Lisbon.

Nani joined the MLS club on a three-year deal in February 2019 after his contract with Sporting was terminated.

“Only the future will tell,” the former Manchester United star, 33, told Radio e Televisao de Portugal. “If I had the possibility to return it would be beautiful, if it was to end my career. I think it’s too soon to consider that.”

11.06 BST: Arsenal are keen to sign Valencia and Spain striker Rodrigo Moreno, says the Daily Mirror.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of contract at the Emirates next year and the future of Alexandre Lacazette also uncertain, the Gunners will be looking for a new striker and could land the 29-year-old for around £50m.

Moreno was being linked to Barcelona a year ago, though they have now moved onto other targets — notably, Aubameyang.

10.40 BST: A move back to former club Valencia would be welcomed by Brazilian goalkeeper Neto if Barcelona sell him this summer, according to Superdeporte.

Neto joined Barca from Valencia in an initial €26m transfer in June 2019 but made just four appearances in all competitions since. Superdeporte claim that Barca have decided to place him on the transfer list as part of their aim to lower the wage bill and that the club is willing to accept offers of €20m to €25m.

Neto is tied to Barca until June 2023, the same date as when goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen‘s contract with Valencia expires. Cillessen joined Valencia last summer from Barca but has not been convincing.

10.13 BST: Manchester United are looking at Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, but is he the right man?

09.23 BST: Brazilian midfielder Arthur has admitted he is flattered by interest from Inter Milan but has vowed to remain with Barcelona for at least one more year.

“Inter? It’s an honour that they are interested in me, but my time at Barcelona has not come to an end,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Any player would be proud to be associated with clubs so important and renown worldwide as Inter, which has a great coach and an impressive team. For the time being, I’m only thinking about Barcelona. I’m very happy in the city and in the club and I honestly I see myself wearing these blue and maroon colours for many years to come.”

Arthur, who is tied to Barca until June 2024, made 16 league appearances for Barca this season.

08.59 BST: Peruvian club Alianza Lima have announced they have reached a deal with Manchester City to sell 16-year-old right-back Kluiverth Aguilar to the Premier League club.

Aguilar, one of Peru‘s most promising talents, will remain in his homeland until his 18th birthday on May 5, next year. The deal is reportedly worth more than $2m. However, an Alianza Lima club source told Peruvian sports newspaper Depor that City have only purchased 50% of the player’s rights, with a view to acquiring the remainder in the future.

“The idea is to tighten ties with Manchester City,” they said. “For the time being, City have only acquired 50% of the rights and the more than $2m is if many things come together in two years.”

Aguilar, meanwhile, says he found out about Manchester City’s interest during a bathroom break while at school.

08.34 BST: AS says that Real Madrid want to renew talented youngster Cesar Gelabert’s contract and then send him out on loan.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been linked with Arsenal, Dortmund and Lyon as his deal expires in the summer. But he has yet to feature in the Real first team.

08.00 BST: RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche has rejected reports that Werder Bremen attacker Milot Rashica has all but agreed a deal with the club.

Some outlets in Germany had claimed that Leipzig were willing to pay a fee close to €40mn for the 23-year-old, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

But Krosche said: “A journalist must have mistaken us for another club. We have never been close to such numbers and fees, especially no in times like these.”

However, he did not deny the club’s interest in the player.

Aubameyang and Lacazette out, Edouard in?

Arsenal are looking to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette this summer in an effort to land Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the 22-year-old, and the Express believes the Gunners are leading the race to sign the striker for £25m.

Edouard has scored 62 goals in 126 appearances for the Scottish league leaders; as a result, a number of clubs around Europe are said to be monitoring his progress.

Yet it’s Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta who is said to have the upper hand over clubs such as Lille, Lyon, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, as Arsenal look to reshape their attack for the 2020-21 season.

Everton are also said to be keen, though they could shift their attention toward Lille striker Victor Osimhen.

De Sciglio considers PSG move ahead of Euros

Juventus are contemplating what to do with defender Mattia De Sciglio amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Valencia, reports Calciomercato.

De Sciglio is one of several players said to be considering their Juve futures. Although he has two years left to run on his contract, he could use this summer to find more first-team football elsewhere as he targets regular action ahead of the Euros.

De Sciglio isn’t Maurizio Sarri’s first-choice full-back, though the Juve boss does consider him an important squad player. However, the 27-year-old is keen to start on a regular basis.

PSG and Valencia are said to be interested and De Sciglio might feel he needs to move in order to further his career.

Timo Werner appears to be edging closer to a move to the Premier League, if you believe the Bleacher Report‘s suggestions that he is taking English lessons. Liverpool and Chelsea have been chasing the RB Leipzig striker for some time, and while the 24-year-old is contracted to the German club until 2023, both feel they can tempt the striker to England.

Real Madrid are preparing to sell up to eight players as they prepare for a squad overhaul, with the likes of Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez and Mariano Diaz all said to be on the transfer list — that’s according to AS.
