Rojo returned to Estudiantes on loan in January and is doing his bit during the pandemic by distributing food and drink to more than 200 families in his hometown of La Plata.
“It was a pleasure to do something small locally to me to help in this unfortunate struggle the world is going through,” said Rojo. “Of course, we took the necessary precautions using masks and gloves to protect ourselves and others.
“My neighbourhood is a humble place but it’s a very friendly place and I am proud to call it home. The community spirit during this crisis has been really uplifting.”
Rojo, capped 61 times by Argentina, was only able to make one appearance for Estudiantes before football shut down in response to the COVID-19 outbreak but the 30-year-old is keeping fit at home until he gets the green light to return to full training with his teammates.
He said: “Since leaving Manchester United on loan, obviously opportunities have been limited to play due to coronavirus, but I am working hard everyday to make sure I am ready when we are able to resume.”
